OHA Offers Loan Program for Oregon Behavioral Health Workers – KTVZ

Salem, Oregon (KTVZ) — The Oregon Department of Health is seeking applications from behavioral health professionals who qualify for the Oregon Behavioral Health Loan Repayment Program.

This program provides tax-exempt grants to supplement the behavioral health workforce in underrepresented and underserved areas of Oregon that provide behavioral health services to communities. .

Eligible participants will receive a tax-exempt grant to pay off eligible undergraduate and graduate loan obligations. OHA may also consider other educational loan obligations. OHA will calculate prizes based on the participant’s outstanding balance on qualifying loans.

Full-time behavioral health professionals (that is, 32 hours or more per week) are eligible to receive an award equal to 70% of their eligible outstanding educational debt (up to $50,000 per mandatory year).

Part-time workers working 16 to 31 hours per week are eligible to receive incentives equal to 35% of eligible debt or up to $25,000 per year of obligation.

Grant participants must fulfill a two-year service obligation.
