GOP Newcomer and Congressional Candidate Kelly Cooper Changes PPP Loan Stance

Phoenix (3TV/CBS 5) — Arizona’s reorganized congressional districts have set up several tight races, including a new 4th district representing parts of Tempe, Mesa, Phoenix and Chandler. The battle for District 4 is between re-election Democratic Congressman Greg Stanton and Republican newcomer Kelly Cooper. Cooper is a restaurant owner and new to the world of politics. He is one of the candidates the Republican Party hopes to help the party control the House of Representatives.

Across the country, Republican and Democratic candidates are at odds over inflation. Republican candidates like Cooper argue that out-of-control federal spending has devalued the dollar and pushed up the price of everything from gasoline to groceries. Appropriated for protection program loans. But Cooper admitted that PPP loans helped save businesses, including himself, during the pandemic.

“PPP loans are therefore an excellent resource for small businesses that have closed as a result of government orders, and our sales have been continuously impacted as a result of government orders. The PPP loans that were allowed in the cases were very helpful in enabling small businesses to continue their operations and provide people with jobs when they were allowed to reopen,” he explained.

More than 90% of PPP loans are forgiven, according to NPR’s recent analysis. Nearly 100% of the loans are expected to be forgiven as more requests are processed for the rest of the year.
