AIG Appoints New Board of Directors

AIG Chairman and CEO Peter Zaffino said: “Paola is an experienced financial services executive and independent director who brings deep international expertise in capital markets, global banking, risk and international regulatory oversight. We are fortunate to have someone with such a strong reputation and fresh perspectives on the AIG board.”

The company also announced that John G. Rice, who joined the board in March, will become lead independent director effective January 1.

Douglas M. Steenland, who served as Non-Executive Chairman from 2015 until his appointment as Lead Independent Director on March 1, 2021, has decided not to stand for re-election at next year’s Annual General Meeting.

“On behalf of the entire Board, I would like to thank Doug for his contributions as Lead Independent Director and his many years of service to AIG, including his previous roles as Chairman of the Board and Chairman of Regulatory, Compliance and Public Policy. committee, and a member of the Risk Capital Committee,” said Zaffino. “I look forward to continuing to work with him as a director until next year’s annual meeting.”
